Nautical equipment

For readiness consultation we reported the safety equipment and minimum survival craft required for vessels and boats – with or without CE marking – in relation to various assumptions away from the coast (Maritime Administration) or from the shore (in inland waters ), without prejudice to the responsibility of the tenant to bring on board those additional resources and recommended safety equipment seafaring experience, the weather conditions and common sense.

Below you can find the official list of equipment provided on board the pleasure craft, according to the Decree of 5 October 1999 n. 478 “Regulations on safety standards for recreational boating” (G.U. of 17.12.1999). These rules apply to all units; Pleasure, excluding ships.

Navigation lights

  • motor units of length less than 12 m may show a white light visible from all sides and sidelights
  • the motor unit of less than 7 m and at speeds not exceeding 7 knots may show a white light that is visible over the whole horizon
  • sailing or rowing units of less than 7m may have on board a flashlight, or a white light to display in time to prevent collision

Fire extinguishers
Fire extinguishers used on board pleasure craft must be of an approved type. It is not required periodic visit. The fire extinguisher must still be kept in good repair and, if the indicator is present, must be in the loading position (green area).

  • Fire extinguishers for boats and vessels authorized to sail within 6 miles
  • With an engine power not exceeding 25 hp: 1 fire extinguisher 13B
  • With an engine power between 25 and 200 hp: 1 fire extinguisher 21B
  • With engine power exceeding 200 hp: 1 fire extinguisher 34B


Fire extinguishers to enable boats to sail up to 12 miles / without limits and for pleasure ships

  • With engine power apparatus under 25 hp: 1 13B fire extinguisher in the dashboard or driver’s seat; 1 fire extinguisher of 13B in the vicinity; the engine; 1 fire extinguisher of 13B in each of the other rooms or groups of rooms adjacent to each other.
  • With apparatus power engine from 25 to 100 hp: 1 13B fire extinguisher in the dashboard or driver’s seat; 1 fire extinguisher of 21B in the vicinity; the engine; 1 fire extinguisher of 13B in each of the other rooms or groups of rooms adjacent to each other.
  • With apparatus power engine from 100 to 200 hp: 1 13B fire extinguisher in the dashboard or driver’s seat; 2 estintor1 of 13B in the vicinity; the engine; 1 fire extinguisher of 13B in each of the other rooms or groups of rooms adjacent to each other.
  • With apparatus engine power from 200 to 400 hp: 1 13B fire extinguisher in the dashboard or driver’s seat; 1 fire extinguisher of 21B and 1 of 13B in the vicinity; the engine; 1 fire extinguisher of 13B in each of the other rooms or groups of rooms adjacent to each other.
  • With apparatus engine power from 400 to 500 hp: 1 13B fire extinguisher in the dashboard or driver’s seat; 1 fire extinguisher of 34B and 1 of 21B in the vicinity; the engine; 1 fire extinguisher of 13B in each of the other rooms or groups of rooms adjacent to each other.
  • With power exceeding 500 hp: 1 13B fire extinguisher in the dashboard or driver’s seat; 2 extinguishers of 34B in the vicinity; the engine; 1 fire extinguisher of 13B in each of the other rooms or groups of rooms adjacent to each other.


Specifications – Nell’estintore the alphabetical classification (A, B, C, D) indicates the class of fire that the instrument is suitable to extinguish; for example the letter “B” indicates fires from flammable liquids, such as gasolines, oils, naphtha, kerosene, etc. The number before the letter, however, indicates the extinguishing capability of the extinguisher. On recreational units they can also be arranged extinguishers approved for classes of fire A or C provided also approved for fire class B.

Deposit of medicines
The medicine chest is mandatory on board enabled boats to navigate “within 50 miles” and “without limits” from the coast. The container should be of rigid material, floating and watertight. That’s the least of medicines that must be kept on board.

  • 1 bottle of disinfectant for external use to, quaternary ammonium base 250 cc;
  • 1 Dark glass bottle of ammonia;
  • 5 packaging of bandages in various sizes;
  • 1 pack of adhesive patch;
  • 1 pack of medicated plasters;
  • 1 pack of 250 grams of cotton wool;
  • 1 common scissors;
  • 1 compressed absorbent gauze pack, in various sizes;
  • 1 compressed vaseline gauze pack, in various sizes;
  • 1 tourniquet;
  • 1 pack of splints for fractures.
